After a scalp micropigmentation treatment, it’s important that you give your scalp adequate time to rest and heal. This healing period isn’t like that of many other procedures where you need to stay in bed. In fact, you should be able to return to your regular daily activities the next day.

There are just a few things you should avoid in the days following your treatment, including:
Washing Your Head
After a scalp micropigmentation treatment, it’s essential that your head remain completely dry for at least four days. When showering in the first four days after a treatment, avoid getting any water or shampoo on your scalp. After four days, it’s okay to wash your head using warm water and shampoo. However, watch for any scalp dryness after showering. If you experience dry skin, apply moisturizer in the morning and evening until it is resolved.
Sweating
Sweat is even worse than water when it comes to the aftercare of scalp micropigmentation. Even light sweat could interfere with the healing process and damage the quality of your results. For at least the first four days, avoid any activities that cause you to break into even a light sweat, including housework and spending time in the heat. You should also wait at least ten days to do any activities that create a significant amount of sweat, such as running, weightlifting, or yard work.

Swimming
Chlorine and saltwater can interfere with the healing process as well. For at least 30 days after your treatment, you should avoid swimming in any body of water with these elements.
Sunlight
In the first 30 days after a treatment, you should avoid exposing your scalp to the sun. Whenever you have to go outside in the first month after a treatment, wear a hat of some kind and use a sunscreen of at least SPF 30.
Shaving
Avoid shaving your head for the first four or five days after treatment. When you begin shaving again, use an electric foil shaver instead of a razor. You should wait at least a week before using a razor again.
Avoiding these activities will help your scalp heal faster and guarantee excellent results.
